Meet the 2014 TCNJ Steel Bridge Team
PROFESSOR NABIL AL-OMAISHI, PH.D, P.E.

 

Professor Al-Omaishi is the technical advisor for this project. He has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and recieved his master's at the University of Toronto. Professor Al-Omaishi obtained his doctorate at the University of Nebraska in structural engineering. He formerly served as the department chair for civil engineering at the College of New Jersey.

The College of New Jersey's 2014 ASCE steel bridge team consists of Professor Al-Omaishi, Aaron Chan, Alyssa Hartigan, Stephanie Rindosh, Max Schisler, and Mike Soriano. We are looking for junior members (juniors and sophomores) who are interested in structural engineering and potentially ASCE steel bridge as a senior project to join our team!

ALYSSA HARTIGAN

 

Alyssa Hartigan is an associate of this team and is in charge of the website design and all fundraising for the project. She will also work in tandem with Steph to design the connections and determine that the bridge will meet the deflection specifications. Alyssa has past educational experience in steel design which will be applied to the project. Alyssa interned at The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company this past summer and will use the knowledge she gained in project management, client communcations, and public relations for the advancement of this project. She will also continue her career at The Whiting-Turner after graduation. Alyssa is a senior civil engineering major and is also involved in TCNJ Ambassadors, Kappa Delta Sorority, and Tau Beta Pi Honor Society.

AARON CHAN

 

Aaron Chan is the project manager of this team and is in charge of all management aspects. Aaron will organize all meetings between group members, keep track of the project schedule, and handle the cost analysis. He will also assist other group members in design components and will manage fabrication. Aaron has past educational experience in steel design which will be applied to the project and also assisted in the construction component of the 2013 Steel Bridge Competition Team. Aaron interned at Parsons Brinckerhoff this past summer and will use the knowledge he gained in project management and scheduling for the advancement of this project. He is a senior civil engineering major and is also involved in Sigma Pi Fraternity and the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society.

STEPH RINDOSH

 

Steph Rindosh is an associate of this team and will work in tandem with Alyssa to design the connections and determine that the bridge will meet the design specifications. Steph will also have a large part in the fundraising and budgeting of the project. Lastly, she will play a necessary role in the fabrication process and assist Aaron organizing the timeline. She has past educational experience in steel design which will be applied to the project. This past summer, Steph interned at STV, Inc. and will use the knowledge she gained in for the advancement of this project.  She is a senior civil engineering major and is also involved in TCNJ Ambassadors, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, and the TCNJ Dance Team.

MAX SCHISLER

 

Max Schisler is an associate of this team and will work in tandem with Mike to design the trusses for the bridge and perform the design calculations. Both team members must determine whether or not the bridge will be able to withstand vertical deflection and horizontal sway. Max must also perform a cost analysis on the bridge after design to determine the amount of material needed. He has past educational experience in steel design which will be applied to this project. Max interned at this past summer and will use the knowledhe he gained in towards the advancement of this project. He is a senior civil engineering major and is also involved in Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.

MIKE SORIANO

 

Mike Soriano is an associate of this team and will work in tandem with Max to design the trusses for the bridge and perform the design calculations. Both team members must determine whether or not the bridge will be able to withstand vertical deflection and horizontal sway. Mike must also perform a cost analysis on the bridge after design to determine the amount of material needed. He has past educational experience in steel design which will be applied to this project. Mike interned at HDR Engineering this past summer and will use the knowledhe he gained in towards the advancement of this project. He is a senior civil engineering major and is also involved in Sigma Pi Fraternity.
